Mattie Jean "Dutch" Morris

d. May 17, 2016

Mattie Jean (Dutch) Morris, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 17, 2016 surrounded by family. Dutch was born in September 1927 in Bovina, TX to A.F. and Mattie Randall. At the age of seven, her family moved to Albuquerque. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1945. On December 24, 1946 Dutch married the love of her life, Tommy. Their love and devotion to each other for almost 70 years has left a legacy for their children and generations to come. Whether you called her Dutch, Jean, Momma, or Nannie she was the epitome of love and caring, always putting others before herself. Having a family and home was all that was ever important to her. Dutch loved holidays, baking pumpkin bread and making fudge, even in her last year of life, delivering her goodies to family and friends. Her homemade pies were anticipated and enjoyed at every family gathering. She was an extremely talented seamstress, often creating her own patterns. "Oh the dresses she would make." Dutch was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Randall; and sister, Margaret Penny. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Tommy of the family home; her son, Thomas Morris and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque; daughters, Linda Fogleman and husband, Louis of Farmington and Tami Morris of Rio Rancho; and "adopted daughter" Toni McMullen of Albuquerque. Dutch is also survived by four grandchildren, Heather Faverino and husband, Dwayne, Heath Fogleman and wife, Amy, Tomi Sundheimer and husband, Jay, and Bobi Morris; and six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan Faverino, Taylor and Seth Fogleman, and Judah and William Sundheimer. Near and dear to her heart are many precious family members and friends. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to our three "angels of mercy" for their compassionate loving care to our parents. A woman of faith, Dutch drew her strength from her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Proverbs 31: 28. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to a service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at FRENCH - Lomas. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
