She was married for 69 years to Ernest Leonard Burton, who passed away in 2009. Various work assignments led them from San Angelo to Clovis, NM, Wellington, KS, Cincinnati, OH, and finally to Albuquerque, NM.
Louise enjoyed several short careers in addition to being the mother of three sons, two by birth and one by adoption. In Clovis, Louise was the hostess of a radio program, “A Visit to Fairyland with Louise.” She was throughout her life a magnificent storyteller. Louise was also a substitute teacher in Clovis.
At the end of 1949, Ernie’s work moved the family to Wellington, KS. There Louise worked as executive secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Sumner County, Kansas.

In 1968, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, where she and her husband bought and managed the La Mesa Motel until Ernest retired from General Electric. It was during this time they adopted their third son, Dana M. Gilmer.
Both Ernest and Louise were very active in Crestview Baptist Church. Ernest was a deacon, and both were Sunday School teachers.
After Ernie's passing, Louise lived independently until 2020 when she moved into Morning Star Assisted Living in Rio Rancho, NM. She lived there until her passing on November 19, 2022, just three weeks short of her 98th birthday. She was attended to by her family and surrounded by her loved ones at her passing.
