Matthew M. Rose, 90 of Albuquerque, NM, beloved father passed away peacefully July 28, 2017. Born May 29, 1927 to Pasquale and Maria Rosa in Watertown, CT, he met his future wife while they were both attending hairdressing school, and married his sweetheart, Virginia M. Rose in 1948. During their 68 years of marriage they were successful small business owners. In 1972 the couple moved to Albuquerque, where they later retired, affording time to meticulously care for their home and yard, travel with friends, visit the local senior centers and casinos, take up square dancing, play cards, and enjoy meals with family and friends.
Matty is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Virginia, four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by three children, Darlene Fentner (Richard), Matty Jr., and Claudia Goodell (Lenny); six grandchildren, Heidi, Chris, Sean, Amy, Amber and Nicole; 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of long-time friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, 3:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Ennichement will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org. A reception will be held directly following the service at the home of Lillian and Adron Pritchard.
