Matilda (Millie) Trujillo, age 86, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, April 9, 2018. She was one of five children born to Marcelino Gonzales and Silveria Romero on April 23, 1931 in Taos, NM but lived most of her life in Albuquerque. Millie was a devout Catholic and was one of the original parishioners at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.  For 25 years she worked as a psychiatric nurse aide where her compassion coupled with her no-nonsense character served her well. Meeting her in Heaven is cherished son Willie “Jr.” (Guillermo) Trujillo, sisters Bersabe, Margaret, Augustina, and brother Alberto, former husband and father of her children Willie Trujillo, and special friend and companion of 30 years James DeSimone (and son James, Jr.). Millie is survived by her children, Stella Martinez (Jim), Armando Trujillo, Santiago Trujillo, David Trujillo (Tina), Bernadette Robinson (Hughie), and Kristina Trujillo; granddaughters Michelle Hernandez (Jon), Rebecca Trujillo (Kevin), Amanda Robinson (Gordon), Alyssa Robinson; grandsons Santos Trujillo (Valerie), J.J. Trujillo (Emma Jane), and David Trujillo, Jr.; and great-grandchildren Seth and Wyatt Trujillo, Cadence Trujillo, and Mia and Lena Hernandez.

Millie’s house was always an open and inviting place where family and friends would gather for festivities including weddings, graduations, homecomings, holidays, billiards, and stories. Millie was always at the center of family gatherings and loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family. A Rosary will be held on her birthday Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW with a Mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. A reception location will be announced at the service. Per Millie’s request, everyone is encouraged to wear festive colors and come prepared to share stories about our beloved and unique Mama.
