MaryEllen Carr

MaryEllen Carr passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021. MaryEllen was born on Sunday, June 26, 1960 in Albuquerque, NM. She grew up in Albuquerque before making Santa Fe her home. MaryEllen graduated from the University of Hawaii and received her MBA from the University of New Mexico. She worked in management for the state, and during this time was diagnosed with cancer. She received a successful transplant and became a top fundraiser and volunteer for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She maintained a healthy, active lifestyle including running seven marathons to benefit cancer research. She also enjoyed swimming and hiking the beautiful mountains of New Mexico. As a lifelong dog lover, she founded the Hearts of Gold Rescue of NM-a dog rescue, foster and adoption nonprofit organization.

MaryEllen was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L Carr MD and Mary F Carr; brothers, Thomas L Carr JR and Robert Patrick Carr; and her niece, Heather Carr West. MaryEllen is survived by her brother, Terry L. Carr; and sisters, DeeAnne Carr Nyweide, Catherine Carr West, and Jane Carr Jones.
Memorial services for MaryEllen will be held Friday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m., at
Sunset Memorial Park in Best Friends Forever Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd NE,
Albuquerque, NM.
