Mary Ann Jakubczak, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 85. Mary Ann was born Tuesday, September 14, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Joseph and Mary Karas. She was the oldest of four children.
Mary Ann was married to the love of her life, Jerome (Jake) F. Jakubczak, a Naval aviator, for 64 wonderful years. Together, they raised four beautiful children and traveled to many Naval installations throughout the United States. She did double duty as a parent and homemaker while her husband was deployed abroad to many foreign countries during his career. She enjoyed her varied roles at the Shrine of St.
Bernadette. She served as the President of the Altar Rosary Society, an usher, and a money counter. She also enjoyed her time working in women's clothing establishments.
Mary Ann also loved to read, travel, garden, dance Polish polkas, puzzles, craft making, needlework, collecting Precious Moments, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. "To know her was to love her."
From Heaven, Mary Ann watches over her loving husband Jake; children Jay Jakubczak and his wife Margarita, Nancy Jakubczak, Lynn Janicke and her husband Michael, Mary Orth and her husband Daryl; 7 grandchildren, Robert Earl, Francesca, Damon, Jaclyn, Rylin, Nicole, and Samantha; 13 great-grandchildren, Travis, Presley, Kylee, James, Tyler, Trinity, Nolan, Gannon, Aurora, Gloria, Riley, Revan, and Jake; 3 siblings, Joseph Karas and his wife Phyllis, Michael Karas and his wife Janny, and Ann Witajewski and her husband Dennis; as well as a family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at FRENCH- Lomas. Reception immediately following at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church Parish Hall.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Shrine of St. Bernadette.
The Burial will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. Donations for Masses and condolences may be offered at FRENCH- Lomas.
