Mary Alice Martinez

Mary Alice passed away on April 26, 2021, at the age of 84 surrounded by her family. Many knew her as Alice, Mary Alice, "Marnallis", Mom, Grandma, and Tia Alice but her most coveted title was Great-Grandma. Mary Alice was a longtime active member of the University Heights United Methodist Church and volunteer in the community. She retired from Albuquerque Public Schools after 25 years. Her hobbies included baking, creating her famous banners with hand-cut letters, collecting nativities, attending Lobo basketball games, and Balloon Fiesta. Mary Alice enjoyed many things from sitting in her backyard to traveling anywhere at any time. Above all, she loved and adored her family and delighted in family gatherings for birthdays, holidays, Super Bowl games, or just eating out with her family. She could always be found at the side lines of sporting events or up front at cheer, dance, and music performances to cheer her kids and grandchildren.

Mary Alice is survived by her loving children, Melani Tutt, Michael Martinez (Analisa), and Marvin Martinez (Beverly); grandchildren, Myranda Sadler (Patrick), David Tutt (Kayla), Steven Martinez, Nathaniel Martinez, and Natasha Martinez; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Sadler, Greyson Sadler, and Madison Tutt.

She is also survived by her brother, Larry Trujillo (Linda), sister-in-law, Manuelita Martinez; brother-in-law, Victor Suazo; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her "Bunchy," Adelaido Martinez, her husband of 59 years; parents, Hernando and Fedelina Trujillo; and sisters, Caroline Suazo and Ema Sanchez.
