Mary Salazar-Sutton—a resident of Albuquerque, with prior residences in Alcalde and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and in Las Vegas, Nevada; went home to be with her personal Savior and Lord Christ Jesus on June 14, 2021.
Mary was born and reared in Alcalde, New Mexico, and was preceded in death by both parents, Antonio J. Salazar and Delfina B. Salazar. Also, preceding her in death were her brothers, Dr. John A. Salazar and Candido Salazar and wife Claudia; brother- in- law, Alfredo E. Tafoya; step-daughter, Toni Kay Sutton; nephews, C.L. Salazar and Carlos Gallegos; and niece, Mary Angela Salazar.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Melvin (Mel) C. Sutton; sisters, Lucy S. Tafoya of Albuquerque, and Violeta S. Anderson, and husband, Dr. Darrell Anderson, of Bernalillo; and sister-in-law, Judy Salazar, of Albuquerque. Other survivors include one step daughter, Kelly Weiss and husband, Mark, of Castle Rock Colorado; step- grand- children Robert Weiss, James Weiss and Cassandra Davis and husband, Marcus, of Denver, CO; nephews A. J. Salazar, of Santa Fe; Donald Salazar and wife, Iris, of Las Vegas, NV; James Anderson and wife, Robin of Denver; John A. Salazar; Ronald Tafoya and wife, Becky, of Albuquerque; Dr. Robert Anderson and wife, Sheryl, of Newport Beach, CA; Timothy Anderson and wife, Wendy, of Highlands Ranch, CO; nieces Anna Mae Gallegos, of Santa Fe; Antonette Eichwold and husband, George, of Bernalillo; Dawne Moore and husband, Justin, of Malta, New York; Elaine Salazar and Dr. Emily Salazar, of Albuquerque; and many great- nephews and great- nieces, friends and brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Mary graduated from Espanola High School, the University of New Mexico and Trinity Bible Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada. She retired from Public Service Co. of New Mexico, in 1986, where she was Manager of Public Relations. Although she received numerous awards and honors at the schools she attended and in her profession, she was most grateful for the ministries in which the Lord allowed her to serve at Trinity Bible Institute, Trinity Life Center, University Medical Center, Calvary Spring Valley and the National Day of Prayer in Las Vegas, Nevada; and, also, at Tramway Community Church, the Village at Alameda, the Cottages, Calvary of Albuquerque, Hoffmantown Church and Home Prayer Groups and Bible Study Groups in Las Vegas and Albuquerque. All glory and honor belong to our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Presently, Mary was a member of Tramway Community Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Tramway Community Church, 4800 Tramway Ridge Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 with Pastor Marcus McClain, of the NM AG District Office, officiating. Interment will follow the service at 3:00 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
