Mary S. Gonzales, long time Albuquerque resident, passed away December 24, 2015 at the age of 84.
Mary is survived by her children, Ida, Terry (Ginger), Theresa, Joseph (Lisa), Pete and Michael; her grandchildren, Ernest, Gabriel, Michael, Jesse Jr, Sean, Nicole, Cindy, Angela, Don Joel, Blanca, Marcus, C J, Valentin, Alexis, Amanda, Dawn, Michael Jr, Nicholas and Amy; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her siblings, Max (Irma) and Aurora (Processo).
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Onesimo and Carmelita Salazar; and her sons, Jesse Chavez and Donald McGinnis.
Mary was born July 4, 1931 in Holman, NM. She loved cooking, sewing and crocheting. She served as the Relief Society quilt specialist of the La Cueva Ward for years. Mary was "raised in the kitchen" and anytime she had family or friends coming, she headed to the kitchen to start making tortillas, beans, chili, and bread pudding that everyone looked forward to.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS San Victorio Chapel, 11750 San Victorio Ave NE, Albuquerque. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Flowers may be delivered to FRENCH - Wyoming.
