Mary Rebecca Lewis

LEWIS, Mary Rebecca Mary was born November 6, 1923 in Itasca, Texas to Gertrude and Lonnie VanZandt. She went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 22, 2014. She was the eldest of ten children. Mary was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and was employed by the Presbyterian and Veterans Administration Hospitals. After retiring, she loved and cared for medically fragile children through the Cowan Clinic. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Zebedee) Rhodes, Wandra (Larry) Root, Joycelyn Lewis, Melodie (Jerome) Holly, Michelle Holly; four brothers; and a number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Victor. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 608 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE. Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Graveside services and interment will take place on Monday, March 3, 2014, 12:45 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Rev. Wendall Benford, II officiating.
