Mary R. (Romero) Martinez

Mary R. Romero Martinez, age 92, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away at her home surrounded by many of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Soniada Romero; her siblings, Josie Martinez, Alice Fawsett, and Alfidio Romero. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lloyd David Martinez.

She is survived by her five children, Mary Jane Wolfe, Cathi Moya, Lloyd Martinez, Valerie Barton, and Patricia Puzak. Mary had 12 grandchildren, Michael Cotinola (dec'd), Michelle Cotinola (dec'd), Aaron Moya, Lauren Mathis, Amy Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Andrea Bruske, Elias Puzak, Amaris Puzak, Ethan Puzak, Azaria Puzak, Ashera Puzak.

Mary is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Samantha Baker, Jadyn Bruske, Elijah Bruske, Wyatt Mathis, Emmett Mathis, Lily Grace Mathis; and one great-great-granddaughter, Ophelia Baker.

Mary was a homemaker who most enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker who loved to decorate her home. As a deeply religious Catholic she enjoyed reading her bible daily and volunteered her time, as a Eucharistic minister, visiting the elderly, leading rosaries, and giving communion to the sick and home bound. She doted on her pets Sparky, Pete 1, Pete Jr., and Pierre. Mary was known to be an enthusiastic green thumb and she enjoyed taking care of her plants both inside and outside of her home, she was especially proud of her rose bushes. One of her favorite rooms was filled with her houseplants. She enjoyed sitting, reading her Bible, and visiting with family in that room.

She also enjoyed arts and crafts, including painting ceramics. She liked playing cards, especially Gin Rummy, and assembling jigsaw puzzles. Perhaps, her favorite hobby, which she enjoyed most of all was shopping for herself, her family, and her home.

Mary was an outspoken, honest, and incredibly kind individual. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her.

A private memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023.
