Mary Lou Pitcher

PITCHER, MARY LOU Of Corrales, New Mexico peacefully passed away on September 1, 2014. Mary Lou was born July 26, 1932 in Pontiac, IL, the youngest child of Ira Austin Erwin and Georgia Avery Erwin. She was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, James Loren Pitcher, M.D. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1992. Her son, William Douglas Pitcher, M.D.; her two brothers, Jack Colby Erwin and William Marsh Erwin; and her sister, Vivian R. Erwin, also preceded her in death. She attended Knox College and DePauw University where she studied English and Literature. She was a beautiful piano player and instilled her love of music to all her children. As the consummate Army wife, Mary Lou orchestrated the numerous family moves to West Point, NY, Yokohama, Japan, San Antonio and El Paso, TX. No easy task with four young children in tow. Mary Lou's vocation was her family and while not employed outside the home, she found great satisfaction by volunteering to several organizations. She was the ultimate and gracious hostess, regularly entertaining visiting Army personnel, sometimes with little to no advance warning. She is survived by her beloved partner, Michael Eiland; son, David Erwin Pitcher, M.D. and her daughter-in-law, Zita; grandchildren, Erin and Daniel Pitcher of Albuquerque; daughter, Jane Lauren Fingarson and her son-in-law, Lyle Fingarson of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Aera Desiree Kim of Albuquerque and Kyle DuBoise of Reno; daughter, Lynn Pitcher Komer and son-in-law, Mark Komer; granddaughters, Lauren and Haley Komer all of Santa Fe, NM; the children of Doug Pitcher, her grandchildren, Lilly and Jon Gorman and James Pitcher and their mother, Ellen Pitcher of Irving, Texas; and her step-daughter, Michelle Eiland of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 3:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Rio Rancho. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the charity of your choice.
