Mary Elizabeth Martinek

Mary Martinek, age 66, of Placitas, New Mexico was called to her eternal resting place on March 5, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved mother, of Jennifer House and Julie Martinek.
Mary was born in Denver, Colorado on July 8, 1950 to Leonard and Clara Schlytern. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer House and Julie Martinek; son-in-law, Steve House; former husband, and dear friend Joe Martinek; step-children, Anna Light, Cyndi Newbury, Aaron Pflock, Kurt Pflock; and many loving grandchildren; and her best fur puppy friend, Ms. Mary Poppins (Poppins).
Mary was an incredibly strong, gracious, loving person. She loved sharing her love for Poppins with her friends and family to help them smile. She cherished hearing stories of the adventures her daughters would take, and to spend time with family in the mountains where the air was crisp. She enjoyed sitting in the sunshine reading. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mary's home in Placitas, New Mexico.
