Mary Lucy Lucero went home to the Lord on June 7, 2024. She was born and raised in Bernalillo, NM and passed away surrounded by her loving family. Lucy truly was a woman of grace. Her compassion for others presented in her selflessness and her love for her God. She is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Natividad Lucero; sister, Maria Dolores Lucero; and brother, Orlando Lucero. She is survived by her siblings Max Lucero, Jr. and wife Dolores, Sadie Padilla, Christine Gurule; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Sorrows High School and earned a bachelor's degree in education from St. Joseph's College on the Rio Grande. She was an amazing educator and taught school for 31 years. She was a devote Catholic who was very involved in her religious faith and was a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church. Over the course of her very full life, Lucy taught religious education classes and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Blue Army, and a member of the Legion of Mary. Lucy was dedicated to the delivery of communion to the home bound and exceedingly devoted to Divine Mercy.
Lucy's love for her family was unconditional. Even though she had no children of her own, she had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews who she considered as her grandchildren and was instrumental in aiding in their lives and education.
Most sincere thank you to the Bosque Trails Hospice team for the great care provided for our sister Lucy.
