Mary Hayes, 78, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015, after bravely battling a long illness. Mary was born on June 15, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, and lived as an adult in Canton, outside Boston, for many years. She eventually moved her family to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the early 1970s and made Paradise Hills her permanent home. She raised many children, stepchildren, and grandchildren, all with a compassionate and loving heart. Mary lived a frugal life but always had a meal or a bed ready for anyone who needed it, even at times when she was in need herself. Mary's hobby was raising children, and she did so until the very end. We will remember her many festive get-togethers, famous pasta recipes and her self-deprecating laugh. Mary was kind, generous, tenacious and funny; she loved her family unconditionally and made them her entire life. Mary is survived by her children, Patricia Allen of New Jersey, Mary Jane Bisbee of Massachusetts, Edward Allen of Albuquerque, Barbara Hartshorn of Albuquerque, Frank Allen of Florida, Michael Allen of Albuquerque, Jeannine Ciulla of New Jersey, and Geraldine Pacheco of Texas; her stepchildren, Kathleen Staunton, Eugene Oles, Grace Kegresse, Joan Wilson, and Susan Oles; thirty-two grandchildren, and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many cherished cousins and special friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George Hayes and Kathleen Nicholson, her former husbands Edward Allen and Eugene Oles, her brothers George and Charles Hayes, her sisters Francis Dillman and Grace Oles, her stepson Charles Oles, her grandson Eric White, and her granddaughter Kelly Kegresse. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. A Rosary and Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. respectively at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
