Glasener, Mary Age 82, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Sheila McGinley of Rio Rancho and Sharon Morimoto and husband, Alan of Lake Oswego, OR; brothers, Joe Nickols and wife, Sue of Arlington, TX, Thomas Nickols and wife, Angela of Hot Springs, AR, and Tony Nickols of Pocatello, ID; sister, Frankie Foley of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren, Ashley McGinley of Albuquerque, Ryan McGinley of Rio Rancho, and Kellen, Rachel, Danielle and Lucas Morimoto, all of Lake Oswego, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Franklin Glasener (married 38 years); mother and father, AC and Tressie Nickols; and brothers, Junior and Harry Lee Nickols. Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Friends may visit FRENCH - University, Thursday, June 12, 2014, one hour prior to service. Mary Glasener was born March 4, 1932 in Winnsboro, Texas and grew up in Pickton, Texas where she finished high school in 1949. She then went to Dallas, Texas and worked for four years in the automobile finance and insurance claims business. While working for Interstate Securities Company, they opened an office in Albuquerque, New Mexico and she was transferred here on September 1, 1953. Mary later went to work for General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), the financial division of General Motors on November 16, 1955. She worked in the credit and collections department for thirty-one and one half years, retiring on May 1, 1987. She belonged to the GM Retirees Club since that time. In December, 1995, she started working on membership to get the Snow Heights Neighborhood Association organized against crime. At that time, she was made membership chairperson and still continues as such. In March, 1996, Mary was elected to the Board of Directors where she served for two years. She was a member of the ABCA and served as the area chairperson for the Northeast Heights. She was also a member of the Bear Canyon Senior Center and the Sociable Singles Club. Mary was a member of the Baptist church and attended Sandia Baptist Church.
