Mary Kathleen Gillooly, known as Kay to her family and friends, passed away April 16, 2024, at the age of 86 after a brief illness. She is survived by four children, Chris Lardner (husband Scott), Pat Gillooly (wife Lisa), Rick Gillooly (wife Ginevra), Colleen Hanley (husband Jerry), 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers, Delmer Knight (Julie), William Knight (Judy), and sister-in-law JoAnn Knight.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lawrence Patrick Gillooly (Skip). She passed away on what would have been Skip's 89th birthday.
She moved in with her family right before Covid. We were so thankful to have her with us during that time of isolation, and she lived with us until the time of her death. She had dinner with family most evenings and she always brought us up to date on the latest news happenings.
She was known for her ability to solve a crossword puzzle and always had a book open on the table.
Mom was a homemaker. She was the glue that held our family together and made sure we all got to church, CCD, sporting events, school activities and all things that came up for four active kids. She always had a hot meal on the table and would often put a meal in a pie tin in the oven, covered in foil to be eaten at the end of a late practice or game (prior to microwave days).
We will miss her gentleness and support and the love that she gave to her family with selfless acts of service. She will be remembered for the candy in her pantry, the bacon sandwiches, the football and golf talk, the Easter egg hunts, peanut butter play dough and always lending an ear.
The Harmony Home Health and Hospice team that helped us navigate the last weeks were amazing. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church with burial following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
We will miss her but know she's with our dad and Jesus and that brings us peace.
