Mary Connell, 86, our beloved mother passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019. She embodied the true definition of acceptance and open mindedness and was deeply devoted to the church, her family, and friends. As a Philoptochos member of the Greek Orthodox Church for over 50 years her purpose was often fulfilled in her service to others.
Mary had exquisite taste for fine music and art. Opera brought her and her beloved husband, Alexander, together. They shared "Be My Love" by Mario Lanza as their song to dance through the night and call life their own. With soil in her palms we could find Mary gardening or sharing company with her dogs. Her pastimes included reading, cooking, a good game of cards, dark chocolate, or a dark beer. With a sharp sense of humor, wit, gentle-in-spirit she could beckon her boys home with a commanding whistle.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Connell. She is survived by her brother, Paul Menjik and his wife, Sandy, and their son, John Paul; her four beautiful children, Teri Connell and her loving husband, Bob Callahan, Kiki Pavlantos, Jim and wife, Debbie Connell, and Peter Connell; incredible grandchildren, Alexander Connell, Mary and husband, Dan Finck, Tony, and Alexis; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Grayson; nephews, Mike Connell, Pete Connell, and Dean Connell; great-niece, Jennifer; and great-nephew, Paul.
