Mary (Rivera) CdeBaca

Mary CdeBaca passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019. She was born June 24, 1929 in Las Animas, CO to Ramoncita Gonzales and Porfirio Rivera. She was raised in Las Vegas, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard CdeBaca and her sons, Eric and Raul CdeBaca; her brothers, Manuel Rivera and Hugh Livingston; sisters, Pauline Gonzales and Mary Jane Lovato; nephews, David Gonzales, Ron Rivera and niece, Lucille Mallory.

She is survived by her daughter, Louise CdeBaca; grandson, Estevan CdeBaca; her nephews, Michael Gonzales, Mark Livingston, Manny Rivera, John CdeBaca, Paul CdeBaca, Moises Lovato Jr. and Carl Lovato; nieces, Becky Livingston and Luana Mikus; her sisters-in-law, Aurelia Livingston, Mary E. Rivera and Rose CdeBaca; as well as many special friends.

She attended Robertson H.S. in Las Vegas and received her BA and MA from NMHU. She was a teacher for 27 years and touched the hearts of many of her students. She was a devout member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving as a past State President. She was a lifetime member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters and D.A.V. Auxiliary. She received many awards throughout her life for different services she was involved in.

She authored a book “Mujeres De La Historia De Hispanoamerica” and a cookbook of all her special recipes. She was an avid reader, writer and cook. She put her heart into everything she did. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, 8:15 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church at 5901 St. Josephs Dr NW.
