Mary Kathryn "Kay" Carson passed away peacefully on Thursday November 12, 2015 after a brief illness. Kay was born on March 24, 1929 in Amarillo, TX. Her family moved to Albuquerque in 1932 when her father took a position with the First National Bank in Albuquerque. Kay attended local elementary schools, Hockaday Boarding School in Dallas, TX and was a graduate of Bennington College in Vermont. She then pursued her interests of art, history and worldwide travel with her mother and beloved aunts. Throughout her life, Kay lived in Dallas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque where she continued to enjoy fine art, theater and the Opera.
Kay was pre-deceased in death by her parents, Cale Wellman Carson, Sr. and Alice Coors Carson, her brother Cale Wellman Carson, Jr., and many lifelong friends. She is survived by her brother's children and their spouses, Cale "Kit" Carson (Jan), David Carson (Annika), Jane Carson Cooley (David) and Mary Carson Matteucci (Brian), her ten great nieces and nephews and her much loved pet cat, Cleopatra.
A graveside Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015, 1:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park 924 Menaul Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM.
