Mary Susan Bower

Mary Susan Bower (Mitzie Morrato) peacefully passed away at age 65 on Wednesday October 25th. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Mitzie will be remembered by her family and friends for her resilience, strength, and courage in her journey through life.

She was an amazing athlete, gifted artist, and committed animal lover. Despite her physical disability, Mitzie mastered several mediums of art and was respected and admired by her peers in the artist community. She received a number of awards for her outstanding creativity in painting, wood burning, scratch board, and ceramics.

In her 28 years as an employee of Sandia National Laboratories, she was highly regarded for her work as a computer graphics illustrator and received numerous accolades for excellence in her work. After retiring, Mitzie devoted her time to her artwork, her beloved companion and dog Sydney, and her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis J. and Mary Morrato. She is survived by four siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. She touched many lives and her spirit will never be forgotten.

A mass will be held in her remembrance at Our Lady of Assumption Church,Friday, November 17th at 11 am. A reception to celebrate her life will follow at Tramway Plaza, 9600 Tennyson St., NE. In lieu of flowers, Mitzie requested donations be made to Albuquerque Humane Society or Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department.
