The Arms of Heaven opened wide today. An Earth Angel has arrived home.
Mary Joann Beaudette arrived at those Golden Gates on Monday morning April 14, 2025. She was visited by many and surrounded by those that loved and cared for her at the time of her passing. Her “light” was still on to the end, and she passed peacefully. God was good to her and eased her across her transition with a short period of discomfort as she took her last breath. Born in Albuquerque, she grew up in Raton, NM, and calls that “home.” She gathered her strength from being in that middle position and taking her own stance among the passel of 8 siblings. She was always quick to mention she was the “oldest,” referring to her two “little sisters,” or the brood of five she led as a youngster. She particularly was quick to inform anyone younger than she, “You’re Not the Boss of Me."
After the passing of her father, Mary moved with her Mother, Veronica, to Albuquerque in the early 80’s in an effort to find job opportunities that accommodated her varied disabilities. She met many different people throughout her work history that made a positive difference in her social life, and she remains in contact with her “Best Friends, Krystal and Lisa” over 40yrs. Mary was fortunate to be able to travel abroad with her Mother, having made trips to Ireland, South America, Mexico and Canada, and across the USA. Her favorite place to visit was So Carolina because Family friends, the Lucero’s, treated her like a Queen during her visits there. She knew where the goin’ was good. She was always ready for the next adventure, even if it was getting a drink at Sonic.
Although she loved her family and her friends, Mary had a special love for her little dogs, Lucy and MooMoo. MooMoo stayed by her side watching over her during her final days. Mary had the purest heart of any person, and her doggies knew it.
She always thought adding the right accoutrement to her dress made her "fancy.” Sporting a new hairdo, with her beautiful nails, she fit many special occasions. She loved dressing up and had a special eye for bling to match any outfit. She wore it well in her dignified fashion and always flashed a beautiful smile when complimented. Anyone who knew Mary knew her favorite color is purple!
Mary’s favorite hobby was word games and word puzzles, which entertained her for hours. Coloring kept her busy as did Solitaire. God, Family and Country was cherished. For a time, she was a member of Loving Thunder Riding Stables enjoying the thrill caring for a horse and climbing up on its’ back. There wasn’t a John Wayne movie she never saw nor an Elvis song she didn’t know and her trip to Graceland lived close in her heart.
In silence, she suffered physically with n'er a complaint throughout her 77 years. No matter how much discomfort she endured, when asked “how are you” the answer was always, “Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts.” After experiencing a stroke 25yr ago, it affected her expressive speech as she lost recall of words. She amazingly taught herself phrases that carried her through for the rest of her life. Those phrases were always appropriately used and timed perfectly, and she was able to keep up with the conversation. Her aim was to stay in the game, and she did.
Mary, you have taught us wonderful words to live by, showed us an inner strength of fortitude and dignity through your actions and thoughts which will live in the hearts of your family and friends forever. You will truly be missed.
You are an Earth Angel headed back to The Father; fortunate the individual who came to know you.
Her Father, Robert and Mother, Veronica, her niece niece Hannah look forward to her arrival in Heaven.
Mary leaves behind Christopher whom she proudly called, “my son,” seven siblings, Peter (Peggy), Bob, Jim (Janelle), Barbara (Tim Murphy), John (Katie), Teresa (Tom Tesch), Michael (Linda) and many nieces and nephews that she loved so much.
