Marvin Linke

June 20, 1933 — May 3, 2022

Marvin Linke, age 88, passed away in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was born in Woonsocket, SD to Herman and Vesta in 1933. His parents eventually settled in Everett, WA. He was naturally talented in baseball (as a pitcher) and art, where he did the artwork for the diplomas for his high school graduation. It was there that he met and married his wife, Betty. They moved to Bremerton, WA, where he worked as a draftsman at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. In 1956, he and Betty packed up their two kids, Jan, and Mike, and all their belongings and moved to Los Alamos, NM. Their family was complete with the arrivals of Paul and Kathy.

Marvin was involved with Atomic Aeromodellers and R/C car racing. He was involved with the creation of the baseball fields in White Rock (currently known as the White Rock Sports Complex) and coached baseball teams (Babe Ruth and Legion). After Marvin and Betty retired from LANL, they moved to Rio Rancho where they enjoyed bird watching and their dogs (Jake and Heidi). Marvin was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother; wife, Betty; and son, Paul. He is survived by his children, Jan (Dennis), Mike (Terry), Paul's widow Cindy (Rick), and Kathy (Ricky); grandchildren, Sean (Jill), Molly (Anthony), Nathan, Kacie (Steven), Steve, and Paul's three children (Nick, Kevin, and David); great-grandchildren, Illyria, Shelby, and Elijah.

The last year was particularly difficult for Marvin, and he enjoyed his time with family friend, Jean Orozco; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Rick), staff from Honor (Raymond, Christ, Judy, and Antoinette) and Hospice De La Luz (Rosemary and Kristen). The family thanks Hospice De La Luz and Honor for the excellent and loving care provided these past 6 months.

Marvin didn't want any funeral service or memorial. If desired, please make a donation in his name to Animal Humane or another charity of your choice.
