Martin Terry

December 17, 1952 — November 28, 2024

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Martin Michael Terry, a dedicated visual artist and lifelong educator, who left us on November 28, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on December 17, 1952, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Martin was a creative spirit who believed firmly in the innate artistic potential within everyone. He often remarked, "Everyone has that creative spark-Everyone!" This philosophy guided his journey as he passionately shared his love for art with students, fellow artists, and the community throughout his life.

Martin was self-employed in the art industry, where he made significant contributions as a visual artist and curator. His creative influence reached far and wide, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of learning from him and collaborating alongside him.

Martin is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Terry; his sister, Frances Terry (Daniel Terry); his aunt, Lucy (Casale) Mora (Maurice Mora); and numerous cousins, as well as countless friends and fellow artists who were touched by his kindness and talent. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Filomena Terry, his sister Nela, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Following his wishes, Martin will be cremated, and a celebration of his life and artistry will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to join together in reflection and remembrance of Martin's vibrant spirit and lasting legacy. The date and time of the ceremonies will be communicated to all who knew and loved him.

As we celebrate Martin's life, we honor his memory by embracing our own creative sparks, ensuring that his belief in the power of art continues to inspire generations.

Martin's wish was that donations in his memory be made to FUSION to support their continuing support of "unseen" artists. For donation options visit: FUSIONnm.org/martin. Checks can be mailed to: FUSION, 700 1st St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102."
