Martha Neugebauer

MARTHA NEUGEBAUERMartha died peacefully at home on August 13, 2012, at the age of 88. She was born on the family farm in Petersburg, IL on January 6, 1924 to Tom and Leta Rogers. She graduated from Petersburg Harris high school and went on at age 16 to Blackburn College. She met her husband of 60 years, Gene Neugebauer, a naval officer, while working in Chicago. After the war, they moved to El Paso, TX and began their family. The Oil business took them to Houston, TX where they raised their family. They retired in Albuquerque, NM to be near their children and grandchildren. Martha was a generous giver to many charities and was a Tocqueville donor to United Way. She enjoyed being active in Sandia Presbyterian Church, Cosmopolitan, various bridge groups, and walking with her friends. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Leta Rogers; her brothers, Robert and Harold Rogers; and her husband, Gene Neugebauer. She is survived by her children, Paula (Doug) Speegle and Roger Neugebauer; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kent) Messer of Dallas, Eric Speegle of Albuquerque, Nick (Jamie) Speegle of Dallas, Victor Neugebauer and Elizabeth Neugebauer of Amarillo, TX. She has four great-grandsons, Coleson, Case and Crews Messer, and Carter Speegle. Martha was a very compassionate person, who will be remembered by the love she had for her family, friends and neighbors. Visitation begins at 2:30 p.m. with Memorial Services beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Interment will be Monday, August 20, 2012 at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Donations may be made to ARCA at .
