Martha Foster was born June 6, 1953 In Stoneham, Massachusetts (10 minutes before her twin brother Jon) to Benjamin and Penny Foster. Her early childhood was spent in the woods, fields and coasts of Massachusetts and Maine. Early on it became apparent she loved both the outdoors and animals. At age eleven her family moved to Albuquerque where she discovered horses and the great New Mexico outdoors. Martha graduated from Sandia High School in 1971 with a gift and mind for others. She received her Bachelor of Arts (1976) and Master of Arts (1982) from New Mexico Highlands University. She was a Licensed Master Social Worker and Clinical Mental Health Counselor spending her time assisting and influencing the lives of others. Throughout her practice, professional career and personal life she demonstrated a deep passion and unwavering commitment for the homeless and displaced. In many ways she was ahead of her time championing the rights of women in all aspects of life. Martha served in the United States Army with tremendous pride and an unwavering commitmenta�"she was a "honorable veteran." She loved cats, was masterful at gardening and enjoyed woodworking. Her times spent in the foothills and mountains near Albuquerque were a givena�"here she was at home. Martha Foster passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 in Albuquerque. She was sixty-two. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Penny Foster; her brother, Karl Emerson Foster; and her sister, Marianne Foster. She is survived by her older brother, Dr. Malcolm S. Foster and his wife Bernadette of Brunswick, ME; her brother, Rev. Jonathan Huse Foster and his wife Judy of Albuquerque, NM; her niece, Kristen Rowley and her husband Ryan and their son Zachary of Washington, PA and her nephews, Gregory Foster of Grand Junction, CO and Christopher Tipton Foster of Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, her friends and family ask you to contribute to any organization that represents her passions. She would invite you to "remember the homeless, befriend a victim and LUV-A-CAT."
