Martha Sue (Bledsoe) Donham, age 86 Martha was born on November 18, 1934, in McComb, Oklahoma to Gladys and Elmer Bledsoe. God’s chariot came to get her on August 5, 2021.
She and her parents moved to New Mexico when she was young. She graduated from high school in Melrose, NM in 1953 and then attended ENMU at Portales, NM. While at ENMU she met her “husband to be” on a blind date. They were married on June 12, 1954 and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on June 12, 2021.
Martha worked as a secretary for the Home Economics department at NMSU until Tommy’s graduation from NMSU in 1957. She then worked as a secretary for Highland Baptist Church in Albuquerque until their first child was born in 1961. At that time, she became a fabulous full time home maker until her death. Her life was instrumental in shaping the life of 2 boys as her husband who worked for Sandia National Labs traveled a lot.
Her life was also very dedicated to serving her Lord and Savior. She was very faithful in serving God at Grandview Baptist Church in Las Cruces (1954 to 1957), Highland Baptist Church in Albuquerque (1957-1966), and Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque (1966 to 2021, 55 years).
She is survived by her husband, Tommy; her two sons, Brent (Elesa) and Craig (Katrina); four grandchildren, Lindsay (Shea), Scott (Kristen), Melissa, Kevin (Lauren); and three great grandchildren, Joel, Natalie, and Hallie and her brother, Joe Bledsoe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys, and Elmer Bledsoe.
Services will be held Monday, August 9, 2021, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE. Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at the Memorial Cemetery in Melrose, NM at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church for either the Lottie Moon Christmas offering, or the church youth missions trips.
