Marshall White, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, January 25, 2015, after a long illness. Marshall was born and has lived his entire life in Albuquerque, NM and was a member of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. His Cheyenne name was "Sun Maker." Marshall is a graduate of Highland High School, where he excelled in soccer, tennis and basketball. He was a leader in many capacities, including president of the Native American Club, captain of the varsity soccer team, and he was also active in Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA). He graduated from UNM with a Bachelor's degree in economics and computer science. He enjoyed coaching soccer and tennis and was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. He worked as the developer and manager of the Long-Term Ecological Research Network's main websites and associated databases at the office at UNM. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Marshall knew of his extraordinary talent and big heart. Marshall is survived by his wife, Laura; daughter, Krysten; son, Joshua; mother, Ida Raye; sister, Dorothy, and grandfather, Lawrence Shortman, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. A reception will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Indian Nations Baptist Church, 417 Palomas Dr. SE.
