Mark Leonard, age 62, beloved husband, was called to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. He entered this world on November 27, 1957, in Mesa, AZ, born to Charles and Rosemary Leonard. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Leonard; father, Charles Leonard; sons, Charles (Holly) Leonard, Samuel Leonard, Andrew Leonard, and Robert Leonard. He is also survived by his granddaughter, uncle, aunt, cousins and nieces. Mark's days were filled with adventure, love for those around him, and Rock and Roll. Mark served in the Air Force from 1980 to 1984. He met his wife Liz and they were married in 1986. Mark began teaching in 1990 in Rio Rancho at Lincoln Middle School then moved onto Rio Rancho High School where he taught science courses until his retirement in 2018. Mark was a Ski Patroller at Sandia Peak Ski Area and avid outdoors man. His free time was spent with his sons watching them play soccer, lacrosse, football, rugby, and his nights admiring the stars. Most recently his granddaughter had him wrapped around her finger and he was over the moon with the addition of a little girl, finally.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020, 9:30 a.m., at Church of the Incarnation at 2309 Monterrey Rd NE Rio Rancho. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Mark's name to Sandia Peak Ski Patrol or Rio Rancho Astronomical Society.
