Celebrating The Life of Marjorie Warren

Marjorie Ann Warren, beloved wife and mother, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at the age of 91. She died as a consequence of a stroke while in the Memory Care wing of The Neighborhood in Rio Rancho.

She was born to Wilfred and Norma (Genrich) Utecht on September 23, 1930, and raised on a farm outside of Wausau, Wisconsin. She attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she met her first husband, Ivan Kressin. They moved to Los Alamos in the early 50’s, where Ivan worked as a chemist for the Los Alamos National Laboratory. After her children were grown and on their own and her divorce from Ivan, she started working for the Laboratory, eventually retiring as an office manager in the Directors Office. After retirement, She and John were married in 1988, moving to Rio Rancho. They eventually moved to The Neighborhood in Rio Rancho, a Life Plan Community where John still resides.

She and John enjoyed traveling to see their children, and to Salt Lake City, researching their ancestry. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting (she made a wedding quilt for her eldest son, Ken and Barbara when they got married), watching the Albuquerque Dukes play, and rooting for the New Mexico State University sports teams, and the Saint Louis Cardinals. She was a voracious reader and loved challenging crossword puzzles. She was very active in the church, singing in the choir, volunteering her time serving on various church supervisory boards, and teaching Sunday School and catechism classes. As an accomplished mezzo-soprano, she was always in demand for solo performances, one time singing at the New Mexico Opera.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her first husband. She is survived by her husband, John of Rio Rancho; her children, Kenneth Kressin (Barbara) of Jemez Springs, NM; Paul (MaryAnn) Kressin of Blanchard, ID; her stepchildren Dianna (Craig) Hutchison of Carlsbad, NM; Russell (Pamela) Warren of West Richland, WA; Roger (Vickie) Warren of Rockaway Beach, OR; Ron (Laura) Warren of Las Vegas, NV; 16 grandchildren and 11 great -grandchildren, scattered across the world.

Donations may be made to the All-Saints Lutheran Church Music Program.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at The Neighborhood Chapel, 900 Loma Colorado Blvd NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
