Marjorie Joan (Nelms) Lovato

March 3, 1932 — May 18, 2021

Marjorie N. Lovato died peacefully on May 18th, 2021, surrounded by her family. Loving wife of George Lovato Sr., devoted mother to Carole Joan Simon and her husband Jay, George Lovato Jr. and his wife Gale, and cherished Nana to Jordan Simon, Sean Ramirez and his fiancé Raquel, and her great grandchildren Mariah Garcia Ramirez and Eliza Ramirez. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Frances Mares and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Cecil Nelms and Marjorie Connern, and her sisters Dorothy "Dot" Janos, Constance Kearney, Annette Sleigus, and Eileen Nelms.

Marjorie was born in The Bronx, New York on March 3rd, 1932 and was the youngest of five daughters. She joined the Marine Corps at the age of 18 where she met her husband of nearly 70 years. Upon completion of her service she graduated from San Diego State Community College with a degree in Public Health, and subsequently worked as a technical writer for General Dynamics in San Diego. She later moved to New Mexico with her family in 1967, where she worked as a sales supervisor for JCPenny for many years.

In retirement, she was an avid reader and enthusiast of word games, and traveled frequently to Las Vegas, NV for recreation. She was known for her quick Irish wit and for regaling those around her with tales of her family and youth.

Services will be held Thursday, May 27th at 10am at French Funerals-Wyoming located at 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. She will be laid to rest at a private burial ceremony at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sean Ramirez, Jordan Simon, Harry Romero, and Michael Cadotte. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Alderson, Hank Casias, Homer Kingston, Toby Lovato, Charles Mondragon, John Sebolt, and Lalo Trujillo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Society of the Little Flower www.littleflower.org , an organization she donated to for many years.
