Marjorie Jo Laflin went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 22, 2022 surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren. She was loved dearly and knew that taking her last breath.
Marjorie was a woman of deep faith and was reunited in heaven with John Laflin, the love of her life and husband of 65 years. They met in church while attending the University of Oklahoma and were both very active members of St. John XXIII Catholic Community in Albuquerque.
Marjorie was a rock to her children -- their confidant and counselor. She always encouraged them and told them they could achieve anything and helped them do so.
Marjorie had a true love of reading, learning and excelled in school. She was very proud of her education and held multiple degrees that included music, education, counseling and theology.
Marjorie was an exceptional educator who truly cared about her students, so much so she often spent much of what she earned on her students - she wanted to make sure they had what they needed to succeed.
She retired after teaching at Albuquerque Public Schools and Catholic schools.
Marjorie was also a magnificent pianist and singer. She was a great joke teller with a marvelous sense of humor and a huge heart. She was also an avid golfer.
There's a picture that was taken of her with a friend finishing 18 holes of golf in the snow.
Marjorie always wanted a lot of children -- and she really succeeded at that!
She is survived by her six children, Dennis, Jane, Mary, Michael (Jamie), Marcy and Nancy; grandchildren, Katie, Tricia (Jonny), Serena (Felix), Mara (Bryce), Michael (Anna) and Brandilyn; and great-grandchildren, Madeliene and Brayden.
Marjorie was also an aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews and in-laws, whom she adored, including her husband's twin sister, Jane.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; four brothers and sisters.
She was truly kind to everyone. We will miss you momma/grandma/great-grandma. The world is not the same without you. Your legacy lives on in your children and grandchildren.
We know you are in daddy's arms. We love you!
Her service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at St. John XXIII Catholic Community. We are asking everyone who attends to wear a mask and have your covid vaccination and booster shots.
In lieu of flowers please donate to UNM Foundation College of Nursing or the MS Society.
