DEARDEN, MARJORIE L. Age 89, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Marjorie Louise Flint in Leicester, MA, the third of four children. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BA in French. While attending college, she met her future husband, Glenn B. Dearden. They were married for 52 years until his passing in 1998. They lived most of their lives in Massachusetts until retiring in Albuquerque in 1984. They had a wonderful life together sharing values and interests with humor, enthusiasm and love. Their commitment and cooperative partnership created a warm and nurturing environment for raising a family. Marjorie was a member of the Unitarian Church for many years. She was active in many civic and conservation organizations. She took her job as a parent very seriously, strongly encouraging reading, knowledge of current events and education. She organized constructive activities involving not only her own children but the surrounding youth community. She was an avid gardener cultivating a yearly vegetable garden. Her love of the outdoors extended into her favorite activity, long walks, which she continued into her 80's. She is survived by her five children and three grandchildren. Marjorie will be laid to rest in Paxton, MA later in the year.
