Marilyn Irene Sanders passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 1, 1932 to Leo and Cornelia Cramer.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert; and her sister, Kathleen. She is survived by three daughters, Julie Sanders, Lauri Gobble (Ken), and Deanna Cook (Bret); as well as four beloved grandchildren, Ariel, Megan, Alexandra, and Ayrton.
Marilyn graduated from the University of Missouri in 1956. She lived for many years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she lived for over thirty years. She loved Albuquerque, enjoying the ever-changing looks of the Sandia Mountains, the beautiful views overlooking the city, and watching the Balloon Fiesta every year.
Marilyn was quite family-oriented and loved her children and their families very much. She always made each daughter feel as if she were the favorite child, and she celebrated each of their accomplishments with enthusiasm. She was so proud of her grandchildren and was grateful that she was able to see them frequently.
Marilyn’s passion was reading, sometimes reading a book per day, and she frequently patronized the public library. She adored cats and always had at least one of two living with her throughout her life. Her cats were very special to her and were considered an integral part of her family.
