Marilyn Louise (Kerry) Kirkpatrick

November 4, 1941 — April 11, 2022

Marilyn Louise Kirkpatrick was born November 4, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Christine and George Kerry and died April 11, 2022, in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a two-year battle with cancer. She grew up in La Grange, Illinois and attended Lyons Township High School. Her father owned Kerry's Custard in La Grange Park, Illinois where she worked along with her brothers, Tom, and Bill Kerry.

She graduated from Monticello College and moved on to the University of New Mexico where she met her future husband James S. Kirkpatrick on a blind date. Marilyn steadfastly said that it was love at first sight. It must have been since their marriage in 1964 lasted until her passing.

Marilyn was an excellent artist in any media, a true teacher, and a beloved friend to many. She was an absolutely extraordinary and independent woman. She raised two wonderful children, a son Eric, and a daughter Amy.

Marilyn loved to travel with Jim, visiting much of the US, Europe, and Mexico. She was always ready to pack her bags for the next adventure.

She kept herself busy playing golf weekly with her Tanoan 9'ers group and she was a fierce bridge player with her two groups Chi Omega Bridge and Tanoan Neighborhood Bridge.

Marilyn truly had a heart of gold, as anyone who met her would attest. She consistently saw the bright side of any circumstance, and her concern always lay with those around her rather than herself. No matter where she looked, Marilyn had an eye for the beautiful things in life.

Marilyn leaves behind her husband Jim, son Eric (wife Patricia), daughter Amy (husband Fred), brother Bill Kerry, four granddaughters and a grandson. In addition, there are two cherished great-grandsons.
