Marilyn (May) Louise Gagnon Provost Freyman passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the age of 90.
Marilyn was born on January 22, 1930, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to Wilfred and Mary (Peters) Gagnon. She was raised, along with her six sisters and three brothers, in Worchester, Massachusetts. Marilyn had busy, talented hands and an open heart, with a willingness to learn to do anything and a determination to find the best in everyone. By the time she graduated from high school, she was working as an optometrist’s assistant. Later, she worked first as an electronics technician and then a computer operator at Los Alamos National Laboratories.
Away from work, she was a talented oil and watercolor painter, a creative craftsperson, and a whimsical designer. She was also a skilled musician: singing and playing both guitar and organ. She also had time to listen, sympathize, deliver the pep talk, and then dust you off and send you back into the fray. In her younger years, she served as a Girl Scout leader; during her retirement in Longmont Colorado, she was a member of the Daughters of the King, Saint Cecilia’s Guild of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and any other group that she found in need of a little help.
Marilyn is survived by three daughters, Linda, Donna Sue, and Carol; thirteen grandchildren, Tammy, Robert, Nikki, Sonja, Andrea, Stephen, Christopher, Heather, Kim, Allen, Christina, Jennifer, and Rachel; sixteen great-grandchildren; five sisters, Virginia McEwen, Shirley Johnson, Pat Aldridge, Lois Swenson, and Gloria Bates. She was preceded in death by two sons, David and Robert; one sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Korswig; and her three brothers, Wilfred Gagnon, Norman Gagnon, and Dick Gagnon.
The family is grateful for the kind, attentive, and meticulous care Marilyn received from David Sandoval and Jeffrey Thomason, along with their staff, at Tres Hermanas Assisted Living LLC as well as Dr. Joy Lovette, Sharon McBride, and Roselyn of Hospice De La Luz. Their dedication helped ease Mom’s final journey through Vascular Dementia.
