Marilyn Fletcher passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2021. She was born on Saturday, August 3, 1940 in El Dorado, Arkansas to JC and Helen Pendleton. She is survived by her sister Patty; daughters, Katie and Liz; and two grandsons. Marilyn moved to Albuquerque in 1965 and married Tom Fletcher who passed away in 2014.
Marilyn received her Master's in Library Science from LSU then went on to work at the UNM Libraries until 2001. She was Head of Acquisitions and Serials Departments and Center for Southwest Research. She also served on the Robb Trust for a number of years.
A lover of science fiction, Marilyn authored/edited two books and several journal articles. Science Fiction Story Index and Readers' Guide to Twentieth Century Science Fiction. She authored several articles about libraries and library science and was active in local, state and national library organizations.
Marilyn adored dogs, especially dachshunds. She loved to travel all her life; her father said her middle name was "GO!" She especially enjoyed traveling through Europe with friends.
