Marilyn Edgar (Thygesen), age 88, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2016 after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Marilyn was born May 23, 1927 in Brookings, South Dakota to Henry and Dorothy Tygesen. She came to Albuquerque with her parents while only a year old. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1945. While working as an usherette at the Kimo Theater she met her husband, Jesse, while he was stationed at Kirtland attending Bombardier training with the Army Air Corps. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; her brother, Leon Thygesen; her sister, Delores (Thygesen) Thompson; and her beloved daughter, Kathy (Edgar) Rice. She is survived by her hero and husband of 70 years Lt. Col. Jesse B. Edgar of the home; her son, William B. Edgar and wife, Katherine of Albuquerque; son-in-law, George D. Rice of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren, Rev. Justin Edgar and wife, Danette, Symantha Cloud and husband, Larry, Shannon Garrett, and Shawna Edgar-McKnight and husband, John; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter. A Celebration of her Life service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Friends may pay respects from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missions at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 or to the National Alzheimer's Association, 9500 Montgomery Blvd NE #121, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
