Mariellen Boruh age 87, a dedicated mother, school teacher and renowned entertainer in Ohio and Albuquerque passed away October 31, 2018. Mariellen was known for her vibrant personality and ability to make “Everyday a Holiday!” She started her own singing telegram business in Warren Ohio in the 1980s called Starwires. Dressing as famous characters such as Carmen Miranda, Mae West, and Marilyn Monroe, she wrote her own lyrics and sang her way into homes to celebrate every occasion. She was a shining star to everyone she met.
Mariellen also donated to several charities and dished out Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at shelters and soup kitchens with her late husband Dr. Eugene V. Boruh. Together they made an inspiring mark in Ohio and Albuquerque by helping the less fortunate.
She is survived by her son Gregori Boruh in Albuquerque and daughter Susan Walther in San Francisco, their spouses Janeen Boruh and Jonathan Walther as well as her loving sister Barbara Bolton and brother Thomas Westerfield. Also touching Mariellen’s life were her brother in-law and close friend Dr. Robert Bolton, her nieces Elizabeth Bolton and Melissa Westerfield, nephew Bradly Bolton, and extended family Dolores and David Bernard.
A dedication and celebration of life will be held in Carter Hall at the La Vida Llena retirement community; 10501 Lagrima De Oro Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
