Marie Nickelson

Marie Nickelson of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on February 2, 2018 at her daughter's home. She was surrounded by family when she went home to meet Jesus.

Marie was born on September 30, 1932 in Blackwell, MO to her parents Paul Nickelson and Myrtle Coleman. On May 2, 1954 she married Willie Clyde Wilson, Jr. and together they had three daughters: Tina, Toni and Traci. Marie worked hard to provide her daughters with a stable and loving home, even when the Air Force moved them to a variety of places including Taiwan, Okinawa, California, Missouri and Colorado, as well as Alabama and New Mexico after they left the Air Force.

After raising her daughters, Marie worked in retail for Mervyns, Liberty House and for many years as a dedicated employee of SAS Shoes. She was a parishioner of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Albuquerque and enjoyed cooking, Japanese flower arrangement, arts and crafts, ceramics and listening to Pavarotti. Marie loved her family dearly and will be remembered for her grace and strength, and as a devoted mother, loving grandmother and woman of God.

Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Nickelson, Jr. She is survived by four sisters, Alice Kochenour, Bette Nickelson, Margie Isbell, and Jenny Van Horn; her three daughters, Tina Romero, Toni Burgess, and Traci Wilson; her grandchildren, Jessie, Doug, Rachel and Megan; and her great-grandchildren, Karissa, Alex, Tyler, McKayla and Tristan.

The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1:30 p.m., followed by Mass at 2:00 p.m. at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE.

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (Proverbs 31:29–31)
