Marie Annette Humphrey was born on August 27, 1946, in Albuquerque, NM to Walter and Betty Marcum. She passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the age of 77, while residing at Enchanted Living Senior Assisted Living in Albuquerque, NM.
She was the youngest of four children. She was born and raised in Albuquerque in a neighborhood full of boys and grew up to be one tough gal. She said her two older brothers never wanted her around, but her mom made them take her with them.
She graduated from Manzano High School. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield where she retired after many years. After retiring she worked part time at Southwest RE to keep busy.
She did not have children of her own but was instrumental in raising her nephews and nieces. She was like their second mom. They referred to her as ‘Aunt Nett’.
Marie enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the casino with her friends as well as having lunch with her many good friends.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brother Richard Marcum, sister Betty Jean Zaruba and great-niece Chloe Marcum. Marie is survived by her oldest brother Daniel Marcum, sister-in-law Donna Marcum, nephew Darrell Marcum, nephew Jeffery (Freda) Marcum, niece Lisa (Quint) Willborn, niece Belinda (James) Gyr, niece Julia Marcum, niece Laura (Don) Lundgren, nephew William (Lynn) Busby, niece Roberta Busby and nephew Edric (Hilda) Zaruba. She also leaves several great nieces and nephews.
To all who knew her, she was kind, generous and caring. She loved her family dearly and she was much loved. We will always treasure the many memories of good times she gave us.
The family would like to thank the staff at Enchanted Living Senior Assisted living for their care and compassion while Marie resided at their home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11am at the Chester T French Memorial Mausoleum at 924 Menaul Blvd NE in Albuquerque, NM 87107 with internment immediately following.
