Marianne was born in central Borneo, Indonesia, on November 6, 1929, the sole child of A.W. and E.H. deBeyer, a citizen of the Netherlands.
Her father served as a consulting the design engineer for Shell Oil Industries. Her early years were spend in various areas of the Indonesian islands, including three years of World War II under internment by the Japanese army on the island of Java. Following the allied liberation of Indonesia, the family was reunited and returned to The Netherlands (The Hague) where she completed her formal high school education followed by attending the medical school of the University of Leiden, graduating four years later from the medical technology program. She married Dr. J.L. deKoning in 1958, and moved to Altoona, Pennsylvania. She returned to the Netherlands following her divorce in 1964. She moved to Port Moresby, Papau New Guinea and married L.A.P. Stoltenkamp in 1965. Following a brief stay in New Guinea she moved to Sydney, Australia. After a short time residing in Sydney, she returned to Indonesia (Surabaya and Jakarta) until 1977, when she divorced and moved back to the family home in The Hague. She returned to Albuquerque in 1978 and married Dr. T.L. Chiffelle, senior pathologist and Dept. Chair for the Lovelace Medical Center, in the summer of 1979. She became a citizen of the United States and remained in Albuquerque until her death on June 7, 2018. She has one son, Richard, born February 1, 1967 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, who she adopted during a visit to the United States in 1967. Throughout her adult life Marianne had dedicated most of her time and resources to a significant number of charitable, and religious organizations. In memory of her devotion to helping others, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, cards, or other gifts, donations be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
