Mariana Ahrens

Mariana Ahrens, age 88, our loving grammy, mom, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, caring neighbor and loyal friend to SO many, passed away peacefully in her home Friday, February 1, 2019.

Mariana was known for her years of LOVE given to her family and friends, that love usually came in the form of dinner or baked goods!  She volunteered at hospitals in each town where she resided and was best known here in Albuquerque for her work on the HAHA cart at UNMH. She loved bringing joy and laughter to the patients all while sneaking them an extra piece of candy and a magazine!

She is survived by her children, Brandon Ahrens, Steven Ahrens, and Susan Moore; her 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Frankie Bookey and Roslyn Greene. She also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, and possibly a few cousins! Also touching Mariana’s life were her special friends and INCREDIBLE neighbors! Mariana was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernst Ahrens; and her daughter, Lori Mackowski.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at B’nai Israel of Albuquerque, 4401 Indian School Road NE, 87110.
