Marian Jacot Moorman

d. March 24, 2014

1920 - 2014. Born in Greenwich, CT to Minerva and Louis Smith. She joined the Women's Army Corp (WAC) in 1943 because she wanted to see the world. The Army sent her to Los Alamos, NM to do clerk typist work for the Top Secret Manhattan Project. In 1946 she was honorably discharged in Fort Dix, NJ. She was awarded several medals: American Service Medal, good Conduct Medal, WAAC Service Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, and Meritorious Unit Service Plaque. In 1946 she married Louis F. Jacot in Port Chester, NY and they returned to Los Alamos. She worked as a secretary for the University of California until 1954. In 1954 she and her husband moved to Albuquerque, NM where they both worked for Sandia Labs. Louis and Maria were devout members of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church. They watched the church expand and grow through the years. Louis died in 1997. Marian married Charles Moorman in 1999. They traveled the world until 2008 when Charles died. Marian was a joy to be around with her zest for life and fantastic mind. She truly lived her life well and fully. She will be missed by all who knew her. Marian is survived by her step-children Patricia Moorman and Samuel Moorman both of Albuquerque; and grandchildren Seth and Gabrielle. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Her cremated remains will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
