Marian Morse Dickinson passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 after incurring multiple organ failure. Marian was being treated for liver disease and her condition worsened much quicker than she or anyone who knew her ever expected. Marian is preceded in death by her father, Harvey Morse. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Lou Dickinson; daughter, Lenae Crespin; son-in-law, Jay Crespin; granddaughter, Joy Crespin; mother, Janell Morse; sisters, Janice Dinkel and Marcia Salazar; special friends, Loretta McMath, Laura Mills, Marlee Fichera, and many other friends and family. Marian always had a little dog following her steps and her Shih Tzu, Romeo, will also miss her feeding him snacks and fresh produce.
Marian was born May 1, 1962 to Evelyn Janell and Harvey Morse. She was the youngest of three girls who grew up in Albuquerque, NM. Marian grew up loving long road trips to Texas visiting her mother’s extended family and spending quality time with her dad fishing and enjoying music. Marian made lifelong friends attending Albuquerque Public Schools. She was an involved student at Cibola High School where she met her lifelong friend and husband, Aubrey Louis Dickinson, Jr., a handsome transfer student from Alabama. The cheerleader and football stud made a picture perfect pair.
She was known for her beauty, kindness, ever present sense of humor, but always reminded us she was more than beauty but brains too! Marian attended the University of New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico University receiving a Bachelor of Science and Master of Social Work. Scripture tells us in Psalms 82:3 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. While Marian’s own life was not without struggle, she devoted over 35 years to serving in Mental and Behavioral Health. She helped many students of all ages and families across the state of New Mexico.
While she loved her community, Marian always said that being a mother was the greatest gift God ever gave her. Her daughter Lenae will cherish memories of their time together; whether they were road tripping, singing their hearts out to mom’s 80s music, making silly faces, or shopping ‘til they dropped -- they always stuck together and shared a laugh. Marian always welcomed friends in her home and became like a mother to many others as well. Marian had also only begun the role of Nana to her grandbaby, Joy Crespin, age 2.1/2. She loved facetiming, visiting California, and sharing endless videos and photos of to her anyone who would look.
Her family invites you to share memories of Marian, who was always bright and full of life. She was an excellent cook and loved to make loved one’s their favorite meal. She was a great singer, loved attending concerts, and jamming in her car. If you have any memories enjoying any of her favorite past-times, please share them here or by attending her celebration service and signing her memory book.
