Maria Fanny (Suarez) Torres

Maria Fanny Torres, age 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, died . She is survived by three daughters, Olga H. Boberg and husband, Larry Hewitt, Anita P. Cook and husband, Terry, and Martha C. Mowry and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Michael L. Burnham and wife, Crystal, Ashley P. Lingerfelt and husband, Jason, Matthew S. Burnham and wife, Hayley, Greg W. Cook and wife, Jordan, Jason R. Boberg and wife, Heather, Angela P. Cook, and Jennifer M. Boberg; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Haylie, Phoenix, Kade, Bentley, Austin, Jolene, Isabelle, Hudson, Cash, and Aubrey; siblings, Luis Suarez and wife, Gloria, and Olga Eraso; and numerous other relatives and friends. Fanny was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jose Torres; and parents, Miguel and Clementina Suarez.



Fanny was born in Bogota, Columbia in 1922 and by the time she was 8 years old, both of her parents were deceased and she was an orphan. The President of Columbia wanted to adopt her but she moved to Panama City, Panama instead, where she was a professional seamstress, sewing for many dignitaries in that country. Fanny was very active in her grandchildren's lives. She never missed a game, traveling to many football and baseball games. Fanny was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.



Cremation has taken place and a Prayer Service will be held Sunday December 3, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH-Lomas. Interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery will take place at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
