Maria "Trinnie" Chavez

Maria T. Chavez, known by her loved ones as Trinnie, age 90, our family rock, passed away peacefully September 12^th 2023. Trinnie was a silent hero, friend to all, and loved her family and friends unconditionally. She had a deep love for Jesus. It was believed she had a direct connection to heaven and could even pray bad weather away.  If you needed someone to pray with you, an ear to listen to your troubles, a shoulder to cry on, or a friend to laugh with, she was the family confidant.  Trinnie had the best sense of humor. She was never afraid to be goofy, ready to make silly faces at the grandkids and was always ready to play games. Her laugh was contagious. She was the first person to laugh at herself or laugh along with you. She was committed to ensuring her family was loved, prayed for, and first and foremost, well fed. She was her family’s cheerleader and biggest fan. Trinnie was a shining star, in her presence her love and kindness were unmistakable, as if she was scrubbed in sunshine. 

She is survived by her husband, Joe A Chavez; She is also survived by her children, Chuck Chavez and fiancé SheryLea of Seattle, WA; Elizabeth Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; Kathryn Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; Julie Barry and husband Neil of Cleveland, OH; and  honorary son Peter Hays and wife Kate of Houston, TX; as well as her grandchildren, Jodi Williams and husband Brandon; Lindsey Marlowe and partner Cody; Danielle Jaramillo and husband AJ; Shane Chavez-Zottnick; Grace Barry; Emma Barry; and her great-grandsons, Oliver, Grey, and Roman. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends.

We will be holding a celebration of life ceremony,Friday, September 22, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH-Lomas. Memorial contributions can be made to Smile Train, Smile Train Donation.
