Marguerite L. Ransdell, age 100, of Cross Plains, TX, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Rising Star, TX. She is survived by her daughter, Jacque and husband, Dr. Scott Childress of Cottonwood; granddaughter, Stephanie Childress of Austin, TX; and great-grandson, Ian; sister-in-law, Virginia Ransdell of Bowling Green, KY; brother-in-law, George Ransdell and wife, Marie of Ospry, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, John Ransdell; sister, Mabel Hunt; daughter, Gail Ransdell; and a host of other loving family who welcomed her to her new eternal home. She was born in 1915 in Bowling Green, KY to the late Hardin W. Lawrence and Emma D. Cherry. Her parents died when she and her sister, Mabel, were quite young, and were raised by loving family members. After high school, they both attended Lois Glynn Beauty School in Bowling Green and became hairdressers. Marguerite married John W. Ransdell in 1937 and they share 58 years of marriage and service to God until his passing in 1995. John was a pastor in New Mexico for over 40 years and Marguerite supported him as a faithful and loving pastor's wife. They served churches in Springer, NM; Las Vegas, NM; and Fruit Avenue Baptist Church in Albuquerque. She was well known for her warm hospitality and being an excellent seamstress, which supported the family during John's six year recuperation from Tuberculosis during WWII. In 2003 Marguerite and her oldest daughter, Gail, moved from New Mexico to Texas to be closer to family. Marguerite was a member of First Baptist Church in Cross Plains. She was a special lady and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE with Pastor Andrew Viera officiating. Interment will follow.
