Margie R. White, age 87, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on June 11, 2018. Margie was born at home on August 9, 1930 in Gravel Switch, KY. She moved to Albuquerque as a new bride when her husband, TL, returned to Albuquerque to work with the railroad after he had served in the Army.
Margie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was retired for the last several years but was known as business owner of several beauty shops, clothing and gift shops in addition to being her husband’s right-hand person in all of their businesses over their married life; Albuquerque Western Solar Industries being their largest endeavor where they built several homes and employed hundreds in Albuquerque and the surrounding areas.
She is survived by one brother, Gerald Smothers, of Kentucky; two sons; Gary White, wife, Abbie and Terry White, wife Sheila; five grandsons, and three great-grandchildren; Nathan White, wife Haley, their daughter, Naomi, Todd White, Dustin White, wife Rebecca and their son Holden, Chad White, Wife Kristine, and their son Atticus and Troy White, wife Mariah and many nieces and nephews. Margie is preceded in death by her loving husband, TL White; her parents; Jesse and Beatrice Smothers, sisters; Mary, Martha, Rose Evelyn, Lillian and brothers; Paul, Ishmael, and Joe.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE, where Margie was a member for 49 years. Memorial contributions can be made to the Building Fund at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave NE.
