Margarito Adonice Silva (Nie Archuleta), age 79, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born on October 6, 1943, to Trinidad B. Silva and Delfina Lucero Silva in El Rito, New Mexico. After graduating from Fruita Monument High School in 1960, He went on to join the United States Navy.

After graduating Navy Basic Training, Nie was sent on his first deployment to Vietnam, this was the start of an eight-year military career. From 1960-1965 Nie was assigned to be a cook on the USS Aludra AF-55, where he would sail around to supply multiple U.S. Navy ships with food and water.

In 1965, Nie decided he wanted to separate from the Navy and be closer to his adoptive parents, Ramon, and Flora Archuleta. From there Nie helped them with daily chores all while working for the Fruita State Home Hospital for handicap and disabled children in the day and bartending at Casey's bar at night.

In 1966 his first son, Roy, was born.

Nie was sent to Da Nang, Vietnam where he was sent to battle and came back home with a purple heart which would be his most proud accomplishment during his time in the service. In 1970 he focused on being a full-time dad when he got the news that his daughter, Lori, will soon arrive. At that time, he ended his time with the service and focused on his two children.

After retiring, in 1999 from Lucent Technologies, Adonice (Nie) spent his time helping in raising his 4 grandkids, traveling, and working on his small farm in Orchard Mesa, Colorado.
